BAMAKO, Feb. 12 (Xinhua) -- Mali's transitional government underwent a minor cabinet reshuffle on Thursday, according to a presidential decree read on national television ORTM by Secretary General of the Presidency Alfousseyni Diawara.
Under the decree, Prime Minister Abdoulaye Maiga remains head of government, but relinquishes the portfolio of territorial administration and decentralization to Issa Ousmane Coulibaly, a post Maiga had held concurrently since November 2024.
The decree also elevates three government members to the rank of Minister of State while keeping them in charge of their respective ministries: Sadio Camara, Minister of Defense and Veterans Affairs; Alousseni Sanou, Minister of Economy and Finance; and Ismael Wague, Minister of Reconciliation, Peace and National Cohesion.
Further changes were made in several departments, with Yaya Gologo appointed Minister of State Refoundation and Relations with Institutions, Tiemoko Traore named Minister of Energy and Water, and Ibrahima Samake appointed Minister of Agriculture.
Out of 28 ministerial portfolios, four departments were reshuffled, while the remaining members of government retained their posts, the decree said. ■
