RABAT, Feb. 9 (Xinhua) -- Four people died and one remains missing after heavy rain triggered flash floods in the northern Moroccan province of Tetouan, local authorities said on Sunday.
Swollen waters swept away a car carrying five people near the village of Lmouawja, authorities said, adding that rescue teams recovered four bodies while search operations are still underway to locate the missing person.
Heavy rain and severe flooding have forced more than 154,000 residents to evacuate their homes in northern Morocco in recent days, according to Morocco's Interior Ministry.
The Moroccan National Meteorological Directorate issued an orange-level weather alert, warning of severe storms affecting multiple regions in the North African country through Monday and Tuesday. ■
