BISSAU, Feb. 4 (Xinhua) -- The transitional government of Guinea-Bissau said the high military command, which has been running the country since the Nov. 26 coup, will "unequivocally" respect the recommendations set forth by the Economic Community of West African States (ECOWAS).

Foreign Minister Joao Bernardo Vieira told a press conference in Bissau, the capital, on Tuesday that "all individuals detained following the coup d'etat have been released."

The transitional government remains committed to political openness, and is willing to integrate additional figures into the executive branch, as stipulated by ECOWAS, to foster "a more inclusive and stable political environment" in the country, Vieira said.

On foreign policy, he said, the high military command will continue to honor all of the nation's international commitments, including maintaining signed agreements, preserving stable relations with the European Union, and continuing the implementation of ongoing development projects.
