WINDHOEK, Jan. 12 (Xinhua) -- Namibia is set to host the International Association of Drilling Contractors (IADC) Africa Conference and Exhibition on Feb. 24-25, as the country seeks to strengthen its position as a destination for offshore energy investment.
The high-level two-day event, organized by the IADC, will gather more than 250 oil and gas professionals from over 20 countries in Windhoek, the country's capital, according to an IADC statement released on Monday.
Conference discussions will cover a wide range of topics, including the outlook for Africa's drilling market, partnership opportunities in Namibia, bankable contracts for drilling contractors, artificial intelligence in drilling operations, carbon capture and storage, geothermal drilling, automation and digitalization, well control, plug and abandonment, as well as strategies for attracting and developing Generation Z talent.
An accompanying exhibition will showcase the latest products, services, and technologies from local and international companies operating across the drilling value chain, the statement added.
The upcoming summit takes place as Namibia's offshore Orange Basin emerges as one of the world's most-watched exploration hotspots. ■
