TUNIS, Oct. 23 (Xinhua) -- UN Resident Coordinator in Tunisia Rana Taha reaffirmed on Thursday the UN's continued commitment to supporting Tunisia's development programs and strengthening joint projects between the two sides.
Taha made the remarks during a meeting with Tunisian Parliamentary Speaker Ibrahim Bouderbala in the capital Tunis, according to a statement released by the parliament on its Facebook page.
The UN official commended the level of cooperation achieved so far and highlighted progress in the implementation of various joint programs.
Taha underlined the UN's determination to continue providing support in line with national priorities and development strategies.
She said the UN's cooperation framework with Tunisia until 2030 is structured around three key pillars: investing in human capital through education and health programs, promoting an inclusive economy that ensures social justice, and addressing climate change through sustainable development efforts.
Taha also highlighted the importance of parliamentary cooperation, noting the UN's ongoing efforts to strengthen the institutional capacity of the Tunisian parliament and support its role in the national development process.
For his part, the Tunisian parliamentary speaker expressed appreciation for the UN's initiatives and reiterated Tunisia's firm adherence to the principles of multilateralism, good governance, and transparency.
Bouderbala underscored the importance of expanding joint cooperation, particularly in the economic, social, and environmental fields, within the framework of the UN 2030 Agenda for Sustainable Development.
He also called for continued efforts to further enhance parliamentary work and strengthen institutional partnerships in support of Tunisia's development goals. ■
