KATHMANDU, Sept. 5 (Xinhua) -- Unregistered social media platforms in Nepal will be fully inaccessible by midnight Friday local time.
All the internet service providers are actively working to implement the government's decision to shut down social media sites not registered with the Ministry of Communication and Information Technology by the latest deadline, said Sudhir Parajuli, president of the Internet Service Providers' Association of Nepal.
"There are thousands of internet protocols for a single platform like Facebook. Therefore, it takes time for closures. They will be inaccessible by midnight Friday," Parajuli told Xinhua. ■
