GABORONE, Aug. 7 (Xinhua) -- Botswanan President Duma Boko on Thursday launched a public engagement platform to support a nationwide forensic audit aimed at rooting out corruption in the southern African country.

The platform will allow citizens to report cases of corruption, fraud, and embezzlement involving public enterprises, Boko said in a televised address from the capital, Gaborone.

"I am here today to launch the public engagement platform through which members of the public may share information, knowledge, experience, or evidence on acts of corruption, fraud, or embezzlement of public resources for personal gain," said Boko, emphasizing public participation in building a corruption-free society.

"This is not only about justice for today. It is about protecting our children, safeguarding future generations, and honoring the dream of a just Botswana," Boko noted.

In March, Boko ordered a forensic audit to investigate and identify corruption and financial misconduct across government ministries, departments, state-owned enterprises, and regulatory agencies.

Boko vowed to enforce zero tolerance for corruption in his administration during his inauguration in November.
