KAMPALA, Aug. 1 (Xinhua) -- The Ugandan military on Friday accused South Sudanese soldiers of killing one Ugandan civilian and abducting three others in the ongoing border dispute between the two countries.

Felix Kulayigye, Uganda's military spokesperson, told Xinhua by telephone that the South Sudanese People's Defense Forces (SSPDF) crossed into Miliafe village in Munduchaku parish, Yumbe District, killed a 47-year-old male and abducted three others on Wednesday.

The incident came after deadly clashes between the Uganda Peoples' Defense Forces (UPDF) and SSPDF troops at Fitina Mabaya and Goboro areas, located between northwest Uganda's Yumbe District and South Sudan's Kajo-Keji County, earlier this week, leading to casualties on both sides.

"There are diplomatic engagements between the two countries (to resolve the dispute)," Kulayigye said.

Uganda and South Sudan have established a working committee to settle ongoing tensions at the border area, which have involved confrontations between UPDF patrols and South Sudanese forces and occasionally sparked diplomatic concern.
