CAIRO, March 10 (Xinhua) -- Egypt's annual headline inflation declined to 12.5 percent in February from 23.2 percent in January, according to a report released by the Central Agency for Public Mobilization and Statistics (CAPMAS) on Monday.
The report attributed this significant decline mainly to an 8.2-percent decrease in vegetable prices and a 0.2-percent decline in tea, coffee, and cocoa prices, among price drops in other categories.
It added that prices of water, electricity, and gas remained fixed in the month, while the prices of grains and bread increased by 0.8 percent, with the prices of meat and poultry up by 3.2 percent.
Egypt seeks to reduce its inflation rate to below 10 percent by the end of 2025, according to a previous statement by the Egyptian prime minister. ■
