ALGIERS, Feb. 10 (Xinhua) -- Algeria on Monday rejected Israeli Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu's suggestion that Palestinians be resettled outside their homeland and that their state be established on Saudi territory.

In a statement, Algeria's Foreign Ministry denounced the remarks as "offensive" and reaffirmed its "steadfast support for Saudi Arabia" in the face of any attempt to undermine its sovereignty and territorial integrity.

The ministry also reiterated Algeria's longstanding commitment to defending Palestinian rights and rejecting any proposal that compromises Palestinian sovereignty or the territorial unity of Arab nations.

Netanyahu, speaking last Thursday, suggested that Saudi Arabia, given its vast land resources, could allocate part of its territory for a Palestinian state.

The proposal has drawn widespread condemnation from Saudi Arabia and other Arab nations, who see it as a disregard for Palestinian sovereignty and an attempt to deflect attention from Israel's actions in Gaza and the West Bank.
