KHARTOUM, Dec. 18 (Xinhua) -- At least 25 civilians were killed and 47 others injured in two attacks by the paramilitary Rapid Support Forces (RSF) in El Fasher, the capital city of North Darfur State in western Sudan, Sudanese Armed Forces (SAF) and a local volunteer group reported Wednesday.

"El Fasher witnessed shelling by the RSF militia on Tuesday, targeting displacement camps to the west of the city," the Command of the SAF's 6th Infantry Division said in a statement.

"A drone launched two missiles, killing 15 citizens and injuring 27 others, who were taken to health centers and hospitals for treatment," the statement said, adding the RSF also launched artillery shelling on a number of neighborhoods in El Fasher, with no casualties reported.

Meanwhile, the Coordination of Resistance Committees in El Fasher, a local non-governmental group, stated Wednesday that "only a short while ago, the RSF militia launched an attack targeting the center of El Fasher and the Saudi Hospital in the city."

"According to initial statistics, 10 civilians were killed and 20 others injured in the attack," the group noted.

The RSF has not commented on these incidents yet.

Fierce clashes have been raging in El Fasher between the SAF and the RSF since May 10.

Sudan has been gripped by a devastating conflict between the two parties since mid-April 2023, which resulted in more than 28,700 deaths and displaced over 14 million people, either inside or outside Sudan, according to the latest estimates by international organizations.
