ABIDJAN, Nov. 21 (Xinhua) -- More than 940,000 new voters have been added to the electoral list in Cote d'Ivoire for next year's presidential election, the Independent Electoral Commission (CEI) announced on Thursday.
Bamba Siaka, the 4th vice president of the CEI, said at a press conference that to date, 943,157 individuals seeking first-time registration have been recorded on the electoral list.
In addition to the new registrants, there are 517,924 individuals on the electoral list requesting a change of voting location or modifications to their personal information, Siaka said.
Furthermore, the CEI recorded 1,207 requests for the removal of voters presumed deceased during the electoral list revision operation from Oct. 19 to Nov. 17.
Following the completion of the registration phase, the CEI will proceed to process the data and produce a provisional electoral list, which will be displayed at all polling stations to initiate the contestation period.
Cote d'Ivoire will hold its next presidential election in October 2025. ■
