ABIDJAN, July 10 (Xinhua) -- Cote d'Ivoire has taken steps to strengthen its legal means to fight terrorism in the country, Ivorian government spokesperson Amadou Coulibaly said on Wednesday.

At the end of a council of ministers, Coulibaly said an anti-terrorism section had been established in the Abidjan Court to deal with acts of terrorism, those having a direct link with terrorism and facts related to organized crime.

"It includes an investigation and prosecution training, an instruction training and a trial chamber, reinforced and reorganized as best as possible with a view to preventing and effectively combating terrorism and related offenses throughout the national territory," he explained.

After suffering a terrorist attack in 2016, Cote d'Ivoire has stepped up measures against the jihadist threat along its borders with Burkina Faso and Mali, which have been plagued by terrorist violence for several years.

Its strategy is focused on prevention and strengthening logistical, human and legal resources.
