ALGIERS, July 8 (Xinhua) -- The Algerian Ministry of National Defense said on Monday that the country's army forces eliminated two armed militants during an anti-terrorist operation in the province of Khenchela, near the eastern border with Tunisia.
The ministry said the terrorists were neutralized on Sunday, with one of them identified as Boughrara Mourad, who joined terrorist groups in 2010. Efforts are ongoing to identify the second individual.
The army forces seized, during the operation, two Kalashnikov machine guns and a substantial amount of ammunition.
The ministry added that in the first half of this year, a total of six terrorists were eliminated, nine were arrested, and 15 others surrendered. ■
