TUNIS, June 12 (Xinhua) -- Tunisia could benefit from its membership in the African Continental Free Trade Area (AfCFTA) and become a gateway to Africa with its huge investment potential, Tunisian officials have said.
"Our country offers various investment opportunities with the African market, particularly in the pharmaceutical, textile and automobile components sectors," Tunisian Minister of Industry, Mines and Energy Fatma Thabet Chiboub was quoted by Tunis Afrique Presse (TAP) as saying Tuesday.
Meanwhile, president of Tunisia Africa Business Council (TABC) Anis Jaziri said that Tunisia, through its membership in the AfCFTA, could benefit in many ways, including exemption from customs duties.
"Tunisia is a strategic investment destination, due to its openness to both Europe and Africa," Jaziri told the seventh edition of the International Conference on Financing Investment and Trade in Africa - FITA2024, currently underway in the Tunisian capital city Tunis, reported TAP. ■
