RABAT, May 29 (Xinhua) -- Moroccan Prime Minister Aziz Akhannouch announced on Wednesday in the central Moroccan city of Marrakech that his government will launch Digital Strategy 2030, a roadmap for advancing digital economic development, "in the coming weeks."

Speaking at the opening ceremony of Gitex Africa 2024, a tech show of the African continent, Akhannouch emphasized his government's steadfast commitment to prioritizing the digital transition, the Moroccan official news agency MAP reported.

The Moroccan Digital Strategy 2030 will center on enhancing the digitalization of public services and giving new impetus to the digital economy, Akhannouch said, adding that the strategy aims to "develop Moroccan digital solutions and create added value and jobs."

Akhannouch also stressed the importance of the digital transition for African countries.

"The digital transition is not a technological luxury but an essential lever for consolidating cooperation between African countries, insofar as it offers tangible solutions to the challenges facing the continent, promotes sustainable development, and guarantees an environment conducive to strengthening African integration," he was quoted as saying.

Morocco has shown a strong commitment to bolstering its role in spearheading Africa's digital transition, aiming to position itself as an innovation hub on the continent.
