ALGIERS, Feb. 29 (Xinhua) -- Algerian President Abdelmadjid Tebboune on Thursday inked a number of agreements with his visiting Mozambican counterpart Filipe Nyusi to strengthen cooperation, Algeria's state-owned news agency APS reported.
The agreements cover the areas of energy, plant protection, agricultural quarantine, animal health, and reciprocal visa exemption for holders of diplomatic and service passports, the report said.
During a joint press conference, Tebboune said that the discussions between the two leaders were focused on enhancing cooperation in energy, agriculture, scientific research, vocational training, marine fishing, and military collaboration.
Tebboune further stressed Algeria's commitment to supporting Mozambique in the fight against terrorism and violent extremism.
Nyusi emphasized that his visit aimed to strengthen bilateral relations and announced the establishment of a joint committee for cooperation between the two nations.
He also highlighted that the two African nations hold similar positions on global issues as non-permanent members of the UN Security Council.
Moreover, the leaders exchanged views on global and regional affairs, with a particular focus on the African Sahel region and the Palestinian issue.
Nyusi is scheduled to attend the seventh Summit of Heads of State and Government of the Gas Exporting Countries Forum, to be held in Algiers on March 2. ■
