ADDIS ABABA, Oct. 26 (Xinhua) -- Ethiopian Prime Minister Abiy Ahmed on Thursday reaffirmed the East African country's commitment to global peacekeeping operations.
Ahmed made the remarks during the commemoration of Ethiopia's National Army Day. He said Ethiopia will continue contributing peacekeepers around the world as part of its international responsibilities.
"Our defense forces are symbols of peace wherever they go," the state-run Ethiopian News Agency quoted Ahmed as saying. He called on members of the Ethiopian army to always be ready to serve, not just Ethiopia, but the continent and the world while in need.
Currently, Ethiopia is one of the top troop-contributing countries to the United Nations and African Union peacekeeping missions. ■
