TRIPOLI, Sept. 28 (Xinhua) -- Libya's Foreign Ministry on Thursday offered condolences to Iraq over a massive wedding fire in northern Iraq that killed more than a hundred people.

"The ministry also expresses condolences and sympathy to the families of the victims, wishing mercy for the souls of those who died and speedy recovery for the injured," the ministry said in a statement.

A huge fire at a wedding party ripped through a large hall on Tuesday night in al-Hamdaniya, a predominantly Christian town in Iraq's northern province of Nineveh, killing 114 people and injuring more than 200, according to the provincial governor.

Iraqi Prime Minister Mohammed Shia' al-Sudani on Wednesday announced a three-day mourning for the victims of the tragic incident and ordered to form an investigation committee to determine its causes.
