TUNIS, Sept. 11 (Xinhua) -- Tunisia has offered sincere condolences to the Libyan people and expressed its solidarity with them following the devastating floods that swept several regions in Libya.
The Tunisian presidency said in a statement on Monday that Tunisia is committed to standing side by side with the brotherly Libyan people during this challenging time.
"Tunisia will put all the capabilities it has to support Libya," said the statement.
"Tunisian President Kais Saied ordered urgent coordination with the Libyan authorities to provide them with the necessary support and assistance to overcome this heartbreaking tragedy," it added.
At least 2,000 people lost their lives in the eastern part of Libya due to the floods caused by the Mediterranean storm Daniel on Sunday. ■
