NAIROBI, Aug. 19 (Xinhua) -- At least six people, including a child, were killed and several others injured after drowning in a septic tank at a village in Kiambu County in central Kenya on Saturday.
The police said the six, who were part of a group that had attended a wedding in Kihunguro area, Kiambu county Saturday morning, had stopped by a friend's residential home where they started dancing on a concrete slab that caved in, drowning them.
According to police, one child died on the spot and five others were confirmed dead upon arrival at the hospital in Ruiru.
According to the report, a team of fire brigade from Kiambu County rushed to the rescue of the group that had been trapped in the underground septic tank.
Kiambu Governor Kimani Wamatangi confirmed the incident. Police said they are investigating the tragedy. ■
