RABAT, Aug. 9 (Xinhua) -- Morocco's imports, under free trade agreements (FTAs), grew by 20.9 percent year-on-year to 207.8 billion dirhams (21.3 billion U.S. dollars) in 2022, the official MAP news agency reported Wednesday.

The European Union (EU) remained Morocco's largest trading partner in 2022, providing 66.6 percent of the country's imports under the FTA, the MAP reported, citing the annual foreign trade report issued by the Exchange Office under the Moroccan Ministry of Economy and Finance.

It noted that Morocco's imports under agreements with the EU in 2022 rose by 15.1 percent from 2021, mainly contributed by imports from Spain, France, Italy, and Germany.

Morocco's imports from the United States, which ranked second with a proportion of 15.2 percent, reached 31.5 billion dirhams in 2022, up by 60.8 percent from the previous year, it added.

Türkiye took third place, with its exports to Morocco amounting to 27.1 billion dirhams in 2022, up by 20.5 percent year-on-year, said the report.
