CAIRO, July 25 (Xinhua) -- More than 100 government agencies and about 40,000 employees have relocated to Egypt's new administrative capital, the Egyptian presidency said on Tuesday.

The presidency made the statement after Egyptian President Abdel-Fattah al-Sisi held a meeting with Chairman of the Administrative Capital for Urban Development Khaled Mahmoud Abbas and other officials.

During the meeting, Sisi and the officials reviewed the works being completed in the new administrative capital, including facilities, roads, residential neighborhoods, as well as commercial and economic areas, said the statement.

The new capital is built to alleviate the burdens of the increasingly congested and overpopulated capital Cairo, which is home to about one-fifth of the country's more than 100 million population.

The Egyptian government also expects the new capital to create around 2 million jobs.
