LILONGWE, May 18 (Xinhua) -- Ninety-five Malawians who were working or studying in Sudan have arrived home fleeing from the conflict between the Sudanese Army and the paramilitary Rapid Support Forces.

John Kabaghe, spokesperson of the Ministry of Foreign Affairs, confirmed the development to local media Wednesday, saying some of them returned on their own, while others were supported by the Malawian government.

The Malawian government said in late April that more than 100 Malawians were stuck in Sudan and authorities were doing all they could to get the citizens back safely.

Sudan has been locked in deadly military clashes between the Sudanese Army and the paramilitary Rapid Support Forces since mid-April. The Sudanese Doctors Union said Tuesday in a statement that the civilian death toll had climbed to 822 since the clashes broke out on April 15.
