CAIRO, May 2 (Xinhua) -- Egyptian President Abdel-Fattah al-Sisi and his Kenyan counterpart William Ruto on Tuesday highlighted the need to continue the efforts to seek a sustainable cease-fire in the war-ravaged Sudan.

During a phone conversation, both leaders expressed support for the efforts to seek peaceful dialogue and the resumption of the transitional phase in Sudan, according to a statement issued by the Egyptian Presidency.

They also discussed the ways to advance bilateral relations in various fields, especially trade and Egyptian investments in vital sectors in Kenya to support its development endeavors, it said.

The two presidents agreed to continue consultation and coordination in the coming period on issues of common interest, especially strengthening the joint African action, in light of the vital roles of Egypt and Kenya in this regard.

The clashes between the Sudanese army and the paramilitary Rapid Support Forces (RSF), which started in mid-April, have killed more than 500 people and wounded over 4,000 others so far, according to Sudan's health ministry.
