NAIROBI, April 5 (Xinhua) -- The UN Women, the world body's entity for gender equality and the empowerment of women, on Wednesday launched its Strategic Note 2023-2026, which sets out a roadmap toward empowering Kenyan women and girls.
Anna Mutavati, UN Women Kenya country representative, said the strategic note will be implemented in four thematic areas that are fully aligned with the East African nation's priorities as well as the UN Sustainable Development Goals (SDGs).
"The UN Women will focus its contribution by collaborating with partners to formulate and implement frameworks that promote the participation and inclusion of women and girls in leadership and governance," Mutavati said in Nairobi, the capital of Kenya.
She added that the strategic note also provides guidelines that will enable the UN Women to scale up its work on strengthening the institutional capacity of state and non-state actors to prevent and respond to gender-based violence.
Mutavati said the UN Women will focus on supporting the development and implementation of policies and strategies on gender-responsive climate change and disaster risk mitigation.
"The strategic note also supports the realization of affirmative action opportunities for government procurement and sustainable consumption," she added. ■
