DAR ES SALAAM, March 20 (Xinhua) -- Tanzanian President Samia Suluhu Hassan on Sunday vowed to fight for women's empowerment and improve girls' education.
A statement by the Directorate of Presidential Communications said Hassan made the commitment when she addressed women at Uhuru Stadium in Dar es Salaam, Tanzania's commercial hub, to mark two years of her administration.
According to the statement, Hassan pledged to continue addressing challenges faced by women in the country. The challenges include constructing science schools and vocational training centers for girls with a view to producing "tech women" that will fully participate in the digital economy.
Hassan was sworn in as Tanzanian president on March 19, 2021, becoming the country's first female president. ■
