Tunisia signs agreements with Burundi, Rwanda to strengthen cooperation

TUNIS, Nov. 21 (Xinhua) -- Tunisia signed two bilateral cooperation agreements on Sunday evening with Burundi and Rwanda to strengthen cooperation.

According to a statement released by the Tunisian Foreign Affairs Ministry, Tunisian Foreign Minister Othman Jerandi and his Burundi counterpart Albert Shingiro signed a cooperation agreement on technological and industrial development.

The two ministers also agreed to hold consultations between the officials of the two countries to widen opportunities for cooperation, expand its horizons and develop its mechanisms.

Another agreement was also inked between Jerandi and his Rwandan counterpart Vincent Perrotta.

They stressed, "the joint determination to give a new impetus to bilateral cooperation by intensifying coordination and consultation at all levels between the two side's officials, and raising it to the level of the aspirations of the two brotherly countries and peoples."

These agreements were signed on the sidelines of the 18th summit of the International Organization of La Francophonie which closed on Sunday.

The 18th summit of La Francophonie, which ran for two days, gathered 89 delegations, including 31 heads of state and governments from the French-speaking world as well as leaders of international and regional organizations.
