KAMPALA, Nov. 19 (Xinhua) -- Ugandan President Yoweri Museveni has said East African nations working with the Congolese government will bring order in war-torn eastern Democratic Republic of Congo (DRC).
Museveni, according to a State House statement issued here late on Friday, said this while meeting a visiting UN Security Council delegation.
East African countries are deploying troops in eastern DRC under the East African Community (EAC) Regional Force.
Museveni said while dialogue among Congolese groups would be given priority, force will be used against groups who continue fighting.
"So, these Africans, if they unite, nobody can defeat them on the African continent. There's no force which will defeat East Africa," Museveni said.
On allegations that some neighboring countries are supplying arms to the rebels of the March 23 Movement (M23), Museveni told the delegation that East Africa cannot fail to investigate and know the truth.
"If we work in East Africa, we shall go, investigate and get facts instead of counter accusations which never end," Museveni said.
The UN Security Council delegation is in Uganda, after a similar mission in DRC and Rwanda.
The head of the delegation, Michel Xavier Biang, who is also the chair of the UN sanctions committee on DRC, told Museveni that a brief will be given to the Security Council early next month about the visit. ■
