LAGOS, Oct. 11 (Xinhua) -- Arsonists set ablaze some buildings within the premises of a local government in Nigeria's southern state of Ebonyi on Monday, local police said.
The unknown attackers who were on the rampage burned parts of the headquarters of the Ezza North local government area of the state on Monday, said Chris Anyanwu, a police spokesman in Ebonyi.
Anyanwu, who confirmed this to reporters in Abakaliki, the state capital on Monday evening, said no human casualties were recorded during the attack, and no arrest had been made so far.
An investigation has been launched into the incident to identify the attackers, he said.
In recent months, there have been a series of armed attacks across the most populous African country, including attacks on government facilities. ■
