MAPUTO, Sept. 29 (Xinhua) -- Sixteen terrorists were killed in Mozambique's northern province of Cabo Delgado, due to the injuries from direct combat with the country's Defense and Security Forces in the last 72 hours, state-owned Radio Mozambique reported Thursday.

The report was citing Bernardino Rafael, the general commander of the Police of the Republic of Mozambique (PRM) who was having a brief meeting with the population of the village of Natugo, Quissanga district in Cabo Delgado on Wednesday.

The commander said that attacks from wild animals including crocodiles also contributed to the death of some terrorists.

On the same occasion, the PRM commander presented to the public four alleged terrorists captured by the Defense and Security Forces, who will be handed over to justice, according to the report.

The police officer visited several villages and called for more surveillance among the local population "to neutralize the infiltrators," said the report.
