BUJUMBURA, Sept. 8 (Xinhua) -- Burundian President Evariste Ndayishimiye has reshuffled the government with five new faces entering the new cabinet, a press release said on Thursday evening.
The press release, read on Burundi state-run radio and television by the president's spokesman, said five new ministers would enter the cabinet made up of 15 ministers.
Sanctus Niragira, chancellor of the University of Burundi, replaces Deo Guide Rurema as the minister for environment, agriculture and livestock.
Dieudonne Dukundane is replacing Deogratias Nsanganiyumwami as the infrastructure, equipment and social housing minister.
Martin Niteretse, permanent secretary in the ministry of interior, community development and public security, replaces Gervais Ndirakobuca as the new minister of the ministry. Ndirakobuca was appointed by the president on Wednesday as the new prime minister to replace Alain Guillaume Bunyoni, who was accused of undermining activities of the government.
Audace Niyonzima is replacing Domitien Ndihokubwayo as the new finance, budget and economic planning minister, and Deogratias Rusengwamihigo is replacing Thaddee Ndikumana as the public service, labor and employment minister. ■
