Morocco detects 3rd case of monkeypox

RABAT, Aug. 25 (Xinhua) -- Morocco announced on Thursday the detection of the third case of monkeypox in the North African country.

The Moroccan Ministry of Health and Social Protection said that this new confirmed case of monkeypox was related to a foreign citizen.

The patient is being treated in accordance with health protocols, and his health condition is stable, the ministry said in a statement.

So far, three cases of monkeypox have been detected in Morocco since June 2, it added.

The World Health Organization (WHO) declared the monkeypox outbreak a public health emergency of international concern on July 23.
