ISIOLO, Kenya, Aug. 10 (Xinhua) -- At least seven people were killed in a road accident along a busy highway in Samburu county, northern Kenya on Wednesday, the police said.
Samburu East Deputy Police Commander, Juma Boy, said seven others were injured after the vehicle they were traveling in crashed along the Isiolo-Moyale highway.
Boy said the deceased were en route to meet a civic leader who had won local elections when their vehicle swerved off the road and rolled near Kalama Community Conservancy, killing the seven on the spot.
"The injured were treated at a local health facility," the deputy police commander said on the phone, noting that the vehicle was speeding when the accident occurred.
Police said they had launched investigations to establish what had happened leading to the incident. ■
