MOGADISHU, July 21 (Xinhua) -- Somali National Army (SNA)'s elite forces Danab on Thursday arrested three al-Shabab militants during an operation at Madahgis location in the Middle Shabelle region of southern Somalia.
Said Muse Hassan, SNA commander of the 16th Unit in the Shabelle region, told Somali National News Agency that the elite troops ambushed the fighters on their hideout and recovered weapons.
"We arrested three terrorists and recovered two AK 47 guns during a special operation this morning in the Middle Shabelle region. The operation was aimed at countering the terrorists in the region," Hassan said.
The latest onslaught against al-Shabab militants was carried out a few days after they launched an attack in Jowhar town in southern Somalia. ■
