ALGIERS, July 20 (Xinhua) -- Algeria rushed material and humanitarian aid to support Tunisia in fighting against wildfires that broke out on Tuesday at mountain Boukornine, the official APS news agency reported on Wednesday.

"Following Tunisia's request, Algerian President Abdelmadjid Tebboune ordered the immediate dispatch of two large air force helicopters and 25 large fire fighting trucks to help brotherly Tunisia put out the forest fires," it said.

According to local media, the fire that broke out in the Tunisian province of Ben Arous, some 20 km southeast of the capital Tunis, spread quickly due to wind.

The Tunisian civil protection authority noted that firefighters, forest rangers and the national army are continuing their efforts to surround and extinguish the fire.
