ABUJA, June 16 (Xinhua) -- At least seven persons died instantly and five others were injured in a bus-truck collision in Nigeria's central state of Kogi early Thursday, the road police said.
The incident occurred on an expressway near the Koton Karfe area of Kogi state, as a result of speed and route violation by either of the affected vehicles, said Stephen Dawulung, a sector commander of the Federal Road Safety Corps in Kogi, at a press briefing.
An investigation has been launched into the incident, to further ascertain the cause of the collision, Dawulung added.
Deadly road accidents are frequently reported in Nigeria, often caused by overloading, bad road conditions and reckless driving. ■
