KHARTOUM, April 29 (Xinhua) -- The annual "Made in Sudan" exhibition closed here on Friday with the participation of 72 Sudanese factories and companies.

Organized by the Sudanese Ministry of Industry in partnership with the Sudanese Free Zones and Markets Company and GIAD Industrial Group, the exhibition this year featured a variety of products, most notably women's jewellery, home furniture, handmade leather products, clothing, adornments, and decoration.

The 10-day event aims to introduce Sudan's local industry, promote its products, as well as attract local and foreign investment in the country's industrial sector, according to its organizer.

This year's event has placed a stronger emphasis on small business owners, and businesswomen and craftswomen, Sitt Al-Ahal Abdul-Aziz, head of the marketing department of the exhibitions and conferences administration of the Sudanese Ministry of Industry, told Xinhua on Friday.

For his part, Al-Mahai Al-Numan, executive director of Al-Musobin Leather Products Company, stressed the importance of the exhibition in supporting and encouraging the local industry and introducing the national products to the public.

The Sudanese industrial sector contributes 7 percent of the country's gross domestic product, according to the latest report of the Central Bank of Sudan.
