YAOUNDE, April 29 (Xinhua) -- Cameroon's Minister of Public Health Malachie Manaouda has called on Cameroonians to stick to coronavirus restriction measures, saying the step was needed to avoid any importation of the virus from Europe and Asia that have witnessed new outbreak of positive cases.

"In view of the volume of trade that Cameroon maintains with the countries of the areas affected by this new wave of the disease, the risk of importing the virus has been proven," Manaouda said in a statement Thursday evening.

"Wearing of face mask, regular disinfection of the hands and respect for physical distancing and the prohibition of gathering of more than 50 people, especially in closed places, will continue to be mandatory," Manaouda said in the statement.

According to data from the Ministry of Public Health, as of April 6, the Central African nation had reported 119,780 positive cases, 1,927 deaths, and no hospitalized patients.
