RABAT, March 28 (Xinhua) -- The Moroccan police seized on Monday 2.3 tonnes of cannabis near the southern city of Guelmim.
Three people allegedly linked to an international drug trafficking network were arrested, said a statement from the Moroccan police.
The statement said the operation is part of the intense efforts by security services to fight against international drug trafficking networks.
Despite efforts to crack down on cannabis cultivation during the past decade, Morocco remains one of the world's largest producers of the narcotic plant, according to the UN Office on Drugs and Crime. ■
