DAR ES SALAAM, Oct. 2 (Xinhua) -- A photo exhibition showcasing the achievements of China-Tanzania friendly cooperation was held Thursday in Zanzibar during a reception marking the 77th anniversary of the founding of the People's Republic of China.

Jointly organized by the Chinese Consulate General in Zanzibar and the Xinhua News Agency Africa Regional Bureau, the exhibition featured photographs highlighting cooperation between China and Tanzania in healthcare, infrastructure, livelihoods and cultural exchanges.

The photographs also traced the history of friendly exchanges between the two countries and showcased the results of practical cooperation in various fields.

More than 200 guests attended the reception, including Zanzibar government officials, diplomatic envoys accredited to Zanzibar and representatives from various sectors.

Haroun Ali Suleiman, minister of State in the Zanzibar President's Office responsible for Constitutional and Legal Affairs, Public Service and Good Governance, welcomed the exhibition and spoke highly of China's development achievements and the Belt and Road cooperation.

He said China-built infrastructure projects, including airports and roads, had improved transportation and living conditions in Zanzibar, while Chinese medical teams and scholarship programs had contributed to healthcare development and human resource training.

Suleiman called for stronger cooperation in green energy, youth employment and governance capacity building, as well as greater personnel and people-to-people exchanges.

Li Qianghua, Chinese Consul General in Zanzibar, said the China-Tanzania and China-Zanzibar friendship had deep historical roots and produced fruitful results through practical cooperation.

Li spoke highly of the photo exhibition. "The photographs vividly recorded cooperation between the two countries in healthcare and livelihoods, describing them as a vivid reflection of China-Tanzania friendship," he said.

Wang Wei, newly arrived leader of the 36th Chinese medical team to Zanzibar, said the exhibition gave him a deeper understanding of the longstanding friendship in China-Tanzania healthcare cooperation.

He pledged that the medical team would uphold the spirit of Chinese medical missions and work to safeguard the health of local people while contributing to a new chapter in China-Tanzania health cooperation. ■
