AMMAN, Nov. 8 (Xinhua) -- Jordanian anti-narcotics police arrested 28 drug dealers and traffickers while handling 15 major drug-related cases, seizing large quantities of narcotics, the Public Security Directorate spokesperson said on Sunday.

The cases involved drug trafficking, storage and promotion across several parts of the kingdom, with seizures including cannabis, marijuana, crystal methamphetamine, cocaine, amphetamine pills and liquid amphetamine, the spokesperson said.

Police handled eight cases in the capital Amman, arresting 19 suspects and seizing 16,000 narcotic pills, substantial quantities of cannabis and other drugs.

In another operation, three people were arrested at an apartment allegedly used to store drugs for trafficking, with 6,000 pills and a quantity of hashish seized.

Seven other cases in Central Badia, Irbid, Maan and Zarqa led to nine arrests and the seizure of various quantities of narcotics.

In Zarqa, officers arrested a suspected trafficker preparing to smuggle 4,000 pills to a neighboring country.

In a separate case, a search of a suspect's vehicle revealed an additional tank containing 18 liters of liquid amphetamine. ■
