NINGBO, Nov. 8 (Xinhua) -- China's Li Yan swept all three gold medals in the women's +86kg category at the World Weightlifting Championships on Sunday, breaking her own snatch world record twice on her way to a dominant victory.

The 22-year-old opened with 140kg in the snatch before lifting 146kg and 147kg in her next two attempts, both surpassing the previous world record of 145kg she set in Gandhinagar in May.

Li lifted 170kg with her first clean and jerk attempt but failed twice at 179kg, finishing with a total of 317kg, eight kilograms short of the world standard of 325kg.

"I had done it in training at home, so I wasn't nervous at all," Li said of her record-breaking snatch performance.

South Korea's Park Hye-jeong took silver with a total of 286kg, comprising 125kg in the snatch and 161kg in the clean and jerk. Her compatriot Kim Hyo-eon claimed bronze with 277kg, while Venezuela's Naryury Perez took snatch bronze with 121kg.

Li, who claimed all three gold medals on the final day of the championships, said she had also hoped to break the clean and jerk and total world records.

"It wasn't a perfect performance. It would have been better if I had taken those other two records too," she said. "I'll have to give 200 percent at the next qualifier."

Earlier on Sunday, Iraq's Ali Rubaiawi won the men's +110kg title with a total of 466kg, ahead of Iran's Alireza Yousefi, who set a clean and jerk world record of 263kg. Armenia's Varazdat Lalayan took bronze with 457kg.

The Ningbo championships, the first of 10 qualifying events for the Los Angeles 2028 Olympic Games, concluded on Sunday after 13 days of competition. ■
