NEW DELHI, Nov. 7 (Xinhua) -- At least three people were killed and four others seriously injured after a massive fire broke out at a facility operated by Oil India Limited (OIL) in the northeastern state of Assam, officials said Saturday.
The fire broke out on Friday at an OIL installation in Tengakhat in Dibrugarh district, about 457 km northeast of Dispur, the state capital.
While one employee was killed on Friday, two others succumbed to their injuries on Saturday, according to a local government official. All four injured people were being treated with ventilator support, government sources said.
OIL has constituted an internal inquiry committee to investigate the cause of the mishap.
The fire reportedly broke out following an explosion during maintenance work at the facility. It was immediately brought under control. ■
