BEIJING, Nov. 7 (Xinhua) -- Executives of Xinhua News Agency, the Associated Press (AP), Reuters, Agence France-Presse (AFP) and CNN held dialogue during the 7th World Media Summit, discussing the direction, pathways and measures for media evolution in the intelligent era.

Fu Hua, president of Xinhua News Agency, said that as artificial intelligence (AI) technology advances, media practitioners should make good use of AI while safeguarding the credibility of mainstream media.

"Xinhua is willing to strengthen dialogue with all parties to advance the industry's development and promote exchanges and cooperation," Fu said.

AP President and CEO Daisy Veerasingham, Reuters President Paul Bascobert, AFP Chairman and CEO Fabrice Fries, Senior Vice President of CNN Kostas Oikonomou, attended the dialogue.

The executives said that information is growing explosively amid the AI wave, bringing risks such as blurred traceability, lack of verification and value bias.

Mainstream media should strengthen exchanges, understand each other's ideas and measures, demonstrate media responsibility and ensure the credibility of mainstream media while actively enhancing their intelligent level, they said.

The 7th World Media Summit is being held in Beijing from Nov. 5 to 9. ■
