MEXICO CITY, Nov. 5 (Xinhua) -- Grenada's ruling National Democratic Congress (NDC), led by incumbent Prime Minister Dickon Mitchell, won 14 of the 15 seats in the House of Representatives in Thursday's general election, according to results released by the country's Parliamentary Elections Office on Thursday evening.

The result puts Mitchell in a position to secure another term as prime minister.

Grenada uses a first-past-the-post electoral system, under which the candidate receiving the most votes in each constituency wins the seat. A party needs at least eight seats to secure a majority in the House of Representatives.

In the general election held in June 2022, the NDC, led by Mitchell, won nine seats, paving the way for him to become prime minister. ■
