SANAA, Nov. 5 (Xinhua) -- At least seven people were killed and six others wounded in airstrikes that allegedly hit farming families and rescue workers in Yemen's northern Saada province on Thursday, Houthi-run al-Masirah TV reported, blaming Saudi warplanes for the attacks.

The channel said Saudi warplanes initially struck two families working on their farms in At Talh, a town in Sahar district, before allegedly carrying out a second strike targeting rescue workers who rushed to help the victims.

It reported that several people remained missing.

The reported casualties could not be independently verified, and there was no immediate comment from Saudi authorities.

Saada, a Houthi stronghold bordering Saudi Arabia, has faced repeated airstrikes amid intensifying fighting between the Houthis and government forces supported by the Saudi-led coalition.

Recent weeks have seen escalating cross-border hostilities between the Houthis and Saudi Arabia, with Saudi strikes hitting Houthi-held areas in Yemen and the Houthis launching missiles and drones toward Saudi Arabia.

Yemen has been mired in conflict since late 2014, when the Houthis seized the capital Sanaa and much of northern Yemen, prompting the Saudi-led coalition to intervene in 2015 in support of the Yemeni government. ■
