RIO DE JANEIRO, Nov. 4 (Xinhua) -- Botafogo midfielder Danilo has been cut from Brazil's squad for friendlies against Japan and Singapore due to injury, the Brazilian Football Confederation (CBF) said on Wednesday.
The 25-year-old is nursing a strained adductor in his right leg and missed Botafogo's 1-0 home win over Atletico Mineiro in Brazil's Serie A on Wednesday.
The CBF said the former Nottingham Forest player would not be replaced in Brazil's squad for the matches in Singapore on November 14 and 17.
The fixtures will be the South American side's final outings of the year. Manager Carlo Ancelotti has said he will use the games to test new players ahead of the CONMEBOL region's 2030 FIFA World Cup qualifiers, due to begin next September.
Brazil is rebuilding after a World Cup round-of-16 loss to Norway in July, the five-time world champion's earliest exit from the tournament since 1990. ■
