WELLINGTON, Nov. 5 (Xinhua) -- New Zealand Governor-General Cindy Kiro has pledged to work with China to expand cooperation in emerging fields and further advance bilateral relations.

While receiving credentials from new Chinese Ambassador to New Zealand Zhao Xing on Wednesday, Kiro noted that China is one of New Zealand's most important partners.

"As mutual trust and cooperation between the two countries continue to deepen, New Zealand stands ready to work with China to expand cooperation in emerging fields and further advance bilateral relations," she said.

Zhao said that China attaches great importance to its relationship with New Zealand. As next year marks the 55th anniversary of the establishment of diplomatic relations between China and New Zealand, Zhao noted that China stands ready to work with New Zealand to carry forward their traditional friendship, expand mutually beneficial cooperation and deepen the comprehensive strategic partnership, injecting fresh impetus into the stability, development and prosperity of both countries, the region and the world. ■
