KUALA LUMPUR, Nov. 5 (Xinhua) -- Malaysia recorded 38 initial public offerings (IPOs) raising 1.62 billion U.S. dollars in the first nine months of 2026, exceeding the 37 listings that raised 992 million USD in the corresponding period last year, Ernst & Young (EY) said on Thursday.
In the third quarter alone, Malaysia saw nine IPOs raising 167.2 million USD, compared with eight listings that raised 94 million USD a year earlier, EY said in a statement.
Southeast Asia recorded 56 IPOs raising 3 billion USD in the first nine months, down 26 percent in volume and 13 percent in value year-on-year.
In the third quarter, the region registered 20 IPOs raising 500 million USD, compared with 26 IPOs worth 2.1 billion USD in the same period last year.
Nghia Trung Nguyen, EY Capital Markets representative, said Malaysia stood out in the region, reflecting continued investor appetite for companies with strong growth prospects.
However, he said issuers needed to be mindful of market timing and investor expectations, with sound fundamentals, good governance and clear growth strategies remaining critical to successful listings. ■
